Sara Heinonen

Sara is the author of Dear Leaves, I Miss You All, a collection of short stories published by Mansfield Press in 2013. Her fiction has appeared in the Canadian literary magazines Grain, Event, The Fiddlehead, Taddle Creek, This Magazine, The New Quarterly and The Dalhousie Review. Her most recent story “Missed Lonelyhearts” appeared in Grain [43.2, Winter 2016].

Born, raised, and long lived in Toronto, Sara has a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Same City and for over twenty-five years she designed many gardens and a handful of public spaces. Now working in marketing for creative and professional design firms, she writes fiction and takes photographs of friends, family, strangers, and the strangest things she can find in the city around her. Her photograph Love It Here was selected for the 2015 RMG Exposed juried auction at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa.

Sara is nearing completion of a novel, supported by both a Canada Council Creative Writing Grant for Professional Writers and Ontario Arts Council Writers’ Reserve Grants in 2011
