Sheryl McFarlane gave up sunny Arizona for love and for the wild weather of the West Coast more than 30 years ago. She is author of 14 books for kids and teens including multi-award winning Waiting for the Whales and best selling Jessie’s Island both of which have been continuously in print for more than 20 years. The Smell of Paint, her first young adult novel, won the Moonbeam Award for Young Adult Fiction and was a Best Books selection in Canada. Several of her picture books are available as audio enhanced EBooks through Crow Cottage Publishers.
Sheryl is an educator, book reviewer, and freelance editor. She has organized several children’s book festivals, toured extensively in Canada and the US, coordinated Children’s Book Week tours for the Canadian Children’s Book Centre and served on multiple award committees including the BC Book Prizes jury.
In her spare time, Sheryl stocks a free mini-library for neighbours and friends and enjoys gardening and walking her dog Ruby. She is looking forward to sharing her two upcoming books with children everywhere, including her grandchildren.
