Glenda Leznoff awarded The Jonathan and Heather Berkowitz Prize!

The inaugural Western Canada Jewish Book Award winners were announced June 19th at a celebratory gala. A new initiative of the JCC Jewish Book Festival, the five awards recognize literary accomplishment highlighting Jewish culture written by authors living in Western Canada. TRF client, Glenda Leznoff, took home the Jonathan & Heather Berkowitz Prize, in the Children & Youth category, for her YA novel Heartache and Other Natural Shocks.

At the event, Glenda read from her novel and participated in a Q & A with host Marsha Lederman, Western Arts correspondent for the Globe and Mail.

A resident of Vancouver, Glenda Leznoff is a writer, college professor and artist who launched her career as a playwright before creating scripts for film & TV. Full of unexpected twists and turns, Heartache and Other Natural Shocks is a unique exploration of teen rivalry, marking an important new voice in young-adult fiction.
