Alexandra Risen’s memoir Unearthed (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; Viking Penguin Random House) was shortlisted for both the Kobzar Literary Award and the Frank Hegyi Award, and enjoyed several weeks as a Canadian non-fiction bestseller. Unearthed received a starred review from Booklist, and Publishers Weekly remarked, ‘Risen paints a vivid and exquisite portrait of nature and its profound significance.’
Her previous careers in the design and business world provide a unique perspective. She holds a Certificate in Creative Writing, Bachelor of Commerce Degree, an MBA, and a Diploma in Urban Planning. A Board Member of the Toronto Botanical Garden, Alexandra lives with her husband, son and rescued dog in Ontario.
