Morgan L. Ventura

Morgan L. Ventura (they/she) is an award-winning poet, writer, and curator. Their poetry, short fiction, and essays have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies across Canada, Ireland, the UK, and US, including Poetry Ireland Review, Banshee, Propel, Geist, Lackington’s, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Best Canadian Essays 2021, among others. The author of the micropamphlet, some minor, sometimes divine, existential crises (Ghost City Press, 2024), Ventura holds a MA in Poetry from the Seamus Heaney Centre, Queen’s University Belfast and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.


She won third-place in the SFPA 2021 speculative poetry contest judged by Sheree Renée Thomas, and was a finalist for the 2023 Listowel Writers’ Week Poetry Collection (selected by John W. Sexton) Award. Her research and writing have received support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Fulbright-Hays, Mellon Foundation, American Philosophical Society, Field Museum, the University of Exeter, and Poetry Ireland.


Ventura also works as a translator of Spanish and a freelance curator and repatriation specialist. She enjoys 80s pop, 90s science fiction television, cats, and herbalism.
