Sang Kim

Sang Kim is a chef, writer, restaurateur, and TV personality.


He has been behind some of the best known modern Asian restaurants in the city of Toronto.


He has been featured as CNE Celebrity Chef, LCBO Celebrity Chef of the Month, and served as “Chef Ambassador” for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea. He is also the recipient in the “Best Dish” category at the prestigious Chengdu International Culinary Competition in 2019.


He has been a regular food contributor on multiple national daytime shows, appearing in 50+ episodes. His TV show, Searching With Chef Sang, is the first nationally-televised show with a Korean Canadian host. Season Two airs primetime on TLN in September 2024.


His short stories have been anthologized widely in magazines and literary journals. He was the winner of the $15,000 Carter V. Cooper Short Fiction Competition, as well as a finalist for Grain Magazine’s Short Grain Contest for Fiction and the Canada-wide CBC Short Story Prize.


He is the recipient of the North York Civic Award; York West Centennial Medal; Push Food Forward’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to food and advocacy for food literacy in marginalized communities in the Toronto area.


He has given keynote talks TEDx; SIPO Foundation; IMPACT Entrepreneur Conference; enRoute/ING Talks; Toronto Foundation for Student Success; Toronto Garlic Festival; Toronto District School Board; Toronto Public Library; Passages Canada; and many others.


He is currently at work on a cookbook, a collection of short stories, and a memoir.
