Shoaib Rahim
Shoaib Rahim is the former Senior Advisor to Afghanistan's State Ministry for Peace and was closely involved in the peace negotiations between the government and the Taliban. He has served in many public sector roles such as the Acting Mayor of Kabul and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Defense.
He is also a Duke University Alumni, a Fulbright Scholar, a New School Fellow, and has lectured at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He has written for the Globe and Mail sharing insights on various issues related to Afghanistan.
Shoaib continues to contribute to his homeland’s future as an Associate Professor of Practice at the American University of Afghanistan. Despite the geographical distance, he is committed to the education of Afghanistan’s youth who are denied the opportunity of a university education.
Currently residing in Toronto, Shoaib is authoring a book that spans two tumultuous decades of his experiences and the untold stories of his countrymen and women who fought with and alongside the international community, which will shed light on the labyrinthine series of events that led to the collapse of Afghanistan.
