Stephen Aitken
Stephen Aitken is an internationally published author/illustrator who has worked in the children’s book sector for the past 15 years.
Passionate about the diversity of life (wild and otherwise), the conservation of habitats and species, and living his life in harmony with our planet, Stephen writes and illustrates picture books, eco-fiction and narrative non-fiction. Trained as a biologist he is Senior Editor of Biodiversity Journal, co-founder and Executive Secretary of Biodiversity Conservancy International a Canadian-based charity that supports on-the-ground conservation/restoration projects, environmental education workshops and biodiversity research.
Stephen lives in Ottawa but often works out of his studio in the Himalayas of India which he shares with an odd orange-eared mouse and several bashful house geckos. He is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
