Timothy Christian’s HEMINGWAY’S WIDOW has sold to Claiborne Hancock at Pegasus Books and Russell Smith at Dundurn Press.
This new biography portrays the life of Mary Walsh Hemingway before she met the writer, during the tumultuous years of their marriage, and through her merry widowhood as she shaped his literary legacy. Mary Walsh Hemingway was a complicated and opinionated woman who smoked Camels, drank gin, swore like a sailor, sang like Edith Piaf, loved passionately, and experimented with gender fluidity.
“A few years ago Tim mentioned how as a young man he had hung out in Paris and read A Moveable Feast and had recently begun writing a biography of Mary,” said The Rights Factory agent and CEO Sam Hiyate. “I was immediately taken by his research and storytelling prowess, and am now so delighted we found a few homes for the book.”
HEMINGWAY’S WIDOW is slated for publication in Spring 2022.
